Eglinton Crosstown is a 19 km LRT that will run across Eglinton Ave between Mount Dennis (Weston Rd) and Kennedy Station.  It will have up to 25 stops and link 54 bus routes, 3 subway stations and various GO Transit lines.

One LRT train has the capacity to carry 15,000 passengers per hour and Eglinton Crosstown is projected to have a ridership of 5,400 passengers per hour during peak times by 2031.

The Ontario government invested $5.3billion into the project in hopes to better transit in Toronto, making it the largest transit expansion in the history of Toronto.  Services will begin in 2021

The Metrolinx Finch West LRT Project is a light rail transit line that will span along the surface of Finch Avenue west from the new Finch West Subway Station (Keele and Finch) to Humber College. It will have 18 stops along its span of 11km.

The project will provide rapid transit to the North West end of the city, a part of the city that is in desperate need of an update to its public transit infrastructure.

The line is estimated to have a ridership of approximately 2,800 passengers per hour (peak times) by the year 2032.

The project has an estimated price tag of $1 billion that will be funded by the Ontario government in dire effort to expand much needed transit in Toronto. Construction on the line is estimated to commence in 2017.

Let’s hope that Toronto can catch up to its neglected and outdated public transit system and build it the right way to accommodate all Torontonians.
